Wayfair
I joined Wayfair in November of 2021 as the Design Lead for the newly established Data Insights team. My primary deliverable in that role was to build out data visualization guidelines to incorporate into the org-wide design system. During my tenure there, my team also launched the new Report Center and Sales Dashboard for Wayfair's suppliers. Through surviving multiple layoffs subsequent and reorgs, I also spent significant time on the Help & Education and Workflow & Pipeline teams.
While the shifting business and my team assignments were out of my control, I was able to target a few personal goals during my time at Wayfair. I identified a few opportunities unique to the scale and resources of a large e-commerce organization. Specifically, I took advantage of every opportunity to mentor junior desigenrs and sharpen my knowledge of the evolving accessibility (a11y) landscape. After taking internal and external training courses, I quickly became the Accessibility Captain for my assigned org. That mostly consisted of holding regular office hours to help other designers work through their respective projects, and providing feedback on in-progress projects along with my engineering counterpart.
